NatWest has been supporting businesses set up to solve social problems for many years. Our ambition is to support social enterprise to increase the size and strength of this important sector within the UK economy. We aim to support social enterprises at every stage of the journey by increasing access to finance, markets and expertise. We work in partnership with organisations such as Social Enterprise UK, ACOSVO, NatWest SE100 and Engaged Investment to deliver a range of skills and capacity building opportunities.

 

In addition, our arms-length social finance charity, RBS Social & Community Capital, facilitates loans to the social enterprise sector. It has approximately £12m assets under management and has approved over £4m of loans to social enterprises and community finance in the last 18 months.

Social Enterprise UK

Social Enterprise UK is the national membership body for social enterprise. Its members come from across the social enterprise movement: from local grassroots organisations to multi-million pound businesses. SEUK undertakes research and policy work, conducts campaigns, builds networks, brokers support and raises the profile and awareness of social enterprise. It was the driving force behind the Social Value Act becoming legislation, the originator of the Buy Social campaign, the producer of the most credible research on social enterprise, and has unparalleled reach through the largest database and directory of social enterprises in the UK. SEUK also undertakes training, consultancy and research with partners from around the world in an effort to build the markets for social enterprise and to raise the visibility of what they are collectively achieving.
